The Small Horse Stance
The most basic Standing posture in Qigong is the Small Horse Stance.
The Small Horse Stance (to be distinguished from the wide horse stance) is a shoulder width standing position, where your weight is evenly distributed between both feet . Your knees are slightly bent, tail bone gently rolled under and shoulders and back relaxed. It has the effect on relaxing the body, (especially the lower back and shoulders) and calming the mind.
This is a nice and simple position to warm your body up before a workout, or a good posture to use for standing Therapeutic Qigong Exercises.
I often sit in a small horse stance in the middle of the day to reground myself and regain some energy. If you can try to add this into your work day, you may be surprised at what a little relaxation can do for your productivity.
