The Qigong Hip Tuck

Dont I look Funny in that freeze frame?!?!

 

Ok, sorry – the point – the hip tuck (or hip roll) is a fundamental component of Qigong training.  Its performed by rolling the tailbone under and towards the front of the body.  This can be done actively or passively.

 

Performing Qigong without the hip tuck is like running without bending your knees (well… maybe its not that bad)… Think of it this way, when you tuck your hip under you create a direct path of force between your upper and lower body.  (or rather you are creating a direct path of energy).  The video will likely explain this movement a little better.
