The Outer Hip Stretch
The outer hip is basically the Guteal region and the external rotators of the leg.
These muscle groups have the dual function of supporting the upper body and powering the lower body and because of this are subject to a great deal of stress that leads to tightness.
Sitting in a chair for long periods of time or too much exercise also put a strain on these muscles.
When these muscles get tight it can put a great deal of pressure on the sacrum and lower back leading to back pain or even sciatica. Quite often this hip tightness slowly comes on so you may not even realize that your back is seizing up, until it raches that breaking point.
One of the simplest remedies to deal with hip tension is – you guessed it – stretch the hips.
