Side Floor Horse
The Side Floor Horse (or Side Bench) is a one armed side lying posture. The support is resting on either your palm or forearm – while one or both of your feet are on the floor.
This position primarily focuses on the latissimus Dorsi, Oblique and abdominal muscles. Because your balance will feel a bit challenged in this position it is an excellent core stability pose.
Like the Floor Horse it is important that you keep your hips rolled under when performing this pose – you may feel inclined to rise your hips and belly into the air, but by doing that you will break the energetic chain between your feet and arm. Also it is equally important to keep you shoulder down (don’t shrug your shoulder) and aligned with the opposite shoulder such that the top shoulder is directly above the bottom shoulder.
This is a very challenging position and should be approached gradually – the video offers a few tips on how to gradually train your body on this pose.
